Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative Fellows

The Department of State’s Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative (YTILI) develops and cultivates relationships among emerging European and American leaders. YTILI is an investment in the transatlantic partnership to strengthen prosperity and enhanced security on both sides of the Atlantic. The United States and Europe represent one of the largest economic relationships in the world. In 2016, transatlantic trade averaged $3 billion a day. The United States is committed to building and sustaining strong relationships in Europe with governments, the private sector, and the next generation of leaders and innovators.

In 2017, 100 young entrepreneurs from Europe and Eurasia participated in the U.S.-based YTILI exchange led by the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs and implemented by the German Marshall Fund. On April 11-13 in Berlin, Germany, the 2017 YTILI Fellows and 13 Americans from Austin, Boston, Charlotte, New Orleans, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. who mentored them will meet for a closing conference to highlight successful outcomes and launch new collaboration and investment on both sides of the Atlantic. The transatlantic community remains the bedrock of American foreign policy. It is the foundation of shared security, shared prosperity, and shared values. A strong, free, and prosperous Europe makes for a safer United States, ensures more opportunities for American business, and honors historic cultural ties. The YTILI program honors this shared legacy by building ties for future cooperation and prosperity.
