Four ways cities are beating the heat

Cities around the world are facing intense heatwaves, with the world breaking the record for the hottest day ever twice this week. But Miami—the first city in the world to appoint a Chief Heat Officer—is among four cities finding creative ways to tackle extreme heat, says Kashvi Ajitsaria at our Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center, which has been working with local partners around the world on building resilience to extreme heat. These cities, including Seville, Freetown, and Santiago, can serve as a model for localities around the world that are facing the same challenge, Kashvi explains.
