Brexit and the real crocodile in the room

David Cameron bet that he could wrangle his party and his people with a satisfying referendum on Europe he was confident he could win. Commenting, the former Chancellor noted that “if you want to go on feeding crocodiles, then you’d better not run out of buns.”

I’d differ that the crocodiles aren’t the British voters; more likely, they are the rapacious bureaucrats of Brussels who earned the Brexit vote with their overbearing regulatory, financial, and political ambitions. But there’s another crocodile, er, in the room that must be acknowledged: Syria.
