Europe’s slow rot
After everything that Europeans saw last year – the Brexit vote, the attack in Nice, the coup in Turkey and the Italian referendum – the default expectation is that Europe will again be in a firefighting mode in 2017. However, the expectation of more drama is counterproductive if Europeans are to push back against the biggest threat facing the continent – a slow-motion disintegration of the EU and erosion of liberal democracy.
