New data on cloud storage and video chatting is further proof of network dynamism

The changing face of network traffic tells a story of the evolving Internet. Traffic reports tell us what content, apps, and devices are growing, and which are shrinking (at least in a relative sense).Sandvine’s latest Internet Phenomena report, which measured traffic in March of 2016, contains two especially interesting findings: first, that cloud storage has become a chief consumer of network capacity; and second, that real-time interactive communication (e.g., video chatting) is finally exploding.
